Human Supporters Association (HSA) defines itself as a grassroots organization. It offers the youth of Nablus and its surroundings a non-violent, proactive alternative in dealing with the given political realities, and is a gathering point for activists promoting justice and social change within Palestinian society.
Our mission is to empower, mobilize and serve our local community, especially our children and teenagers. Further, to teach young people how to become proactive in their own society in a positive way, and to pave the way for future community leaders with a (self) critical approach.

In may 2002, following the April invasion of the city of Nablus (and the rest of the Occupies Palestinian Territories), a group of young a emergency worker-activists from Nablus established HSA. The aim was to reach out to children and teenagers who go through traumatic events on a daily basis. The main idea was to bring happiness and pleasure into their daily lives while enabling them to reclaim their rights.
HSA believes in the political-psychological approach meaning "you cannot take the traumatic experience out of the political context of the life of the young people." In this case, it was important to initiate a work method that would combine psychological work with training and empowerment for activism against the occupation, along with building up the society in a time of constant occupation.
Here at HSA we try to provide a range of programs and activities. Each one attempts to give young people the opportunity to freely express themselves whilst coming to terms with their situation. The activities aim at enhancing the quality of their of the members lives and helping to cope with their trauma, and sometimes we just have fun! All this is done in a happy and challenging environment. The programs include Psycho-artistic Programs, Cultural Activities, School Support and Education and Sporting Activities.
Each summer for the last seven years, HSA has conducted summer camps for around a hundred children, from all walks of life, in the city of Nablus. Primarily, these summer camps aim at bringing happiness to children in their otherwise chaotic and unstable lives, however, the camp also aims to creating a social harmony, which they will hopefully take with them in building their own future society.
This is an exhibition relating to one year of life in Nablus: the happy moments, the sad ones, culture, traditions, occupation, etc. Over the duration of one year the animators of Human Supporters capture the life of Nablus and choose their way of expressing this through a number of different mediums. Last years exhibition was presented during November and December 2008 in Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Holland.

HSA regularly organizes performances and parties for and with children and teenagers: musical concerts, clowns, birthday parties etc.
The Voice of Kids program is one of the most important psycho-artistic programs of HSA and combines all our work methods and beliefs. During the year, the project will bring together a group of young people, aged between 12 and 16 years old, who are total strangers to each other, and help them to become freethinking and empowered young activists. The project consists of four phases which are set over the course of the year.
