PSYCHO EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

School support project 2019 :
HSA started implement school support project aim improve the educational level of childre. The project targets children who have difficulty with learning, low achievement and psychological and family problems. This project target children of grade 2nd, 3rd and 4th. The center provides Arabic, Maths and English lessons trough non formal educational approach. The “non-formal education” is an alternative and/or a complement to «formal education» within the processof the lifelong learning of individuals. The children come after school, three days a week (sunday-monday-wednesday).

Summer Camp 2019:
From 8th July until 28th July, Human Supporters Association organised the 12th session of their annual Summer Camp, called “Living together”. This initiative was set up in 2008 by HSA, Ibrahim Father and the Samaritan Youth Club. The goal was to contribute to unify the different communauties of Nabus and to turn summer vacation into a rich experience for the children trough psycho-social and cultural activities.
This year, the “Living together” Summer Camp targeted 66 children, aged between 7-13 years oldwith an average of 66 children per day. As in previous years the Summer Camp was implemented Al-Fatimiya Girl School right across from HSA’s office. In order to supervise each corner, HSA recruited 9 fully-trained volunteers and staff members (7 locals and 2 international from France). The theme, “Living together” was the conductive thread of the Summer Camp which means that all of the corners aimed at raising awareness and promoting tolerance and respect through various activities. The Summer Camp included, a variety of the corners including, handcrafts photography, Dabkeh, theatre, as well as held and environment section in which children learned how to prepare a healthy food do them in a easy and proper way, in addition to several cultural educational visits to several places.

Winter Camp 2020:
From 4th January until 13th January 2020, Human Supporters Association will organise the 10 session of their annual Winter Camp. This initiative was set up in 2020 by HSA. Winter Camp 2019 was organized by Human Supporters Association and included 30 children age 8-12 years and formers corners : handcrafts, first aid, photography, games group). The theme of Winter Camp is about “raising awareness and promoting tolerance and respect through various activities”.

Women Club // Project “Enhancing the participation of marginalized women in community’s activities” :
Within the project SudHave2 : Human Supporters Association organized training fro the women called “Enhancing the participation of marginalized women in community’s activities”. We had several meetingand trainings for womens and mothers. The main purpose of the training was to put forward a positive way of Education in the daily life. One of the activities was explain for the parents the importance of non-use violence, punishment during the child’s upbringing. We trained parents how to find the alternatives way, how to raise their children in the peaceful and non-violence way. We gave women the opportunity to participate in the meeting and be part of the group share experience, woes and problems between each other’s, make friendship and stick together. Meeting, were happening ones a week at 10:30 a.m in the HSA center.

Workshop “children protection”/ Human Right workshop :
HSA provided workshops in a cooperation with “Palestinian Counseling Center” fr children 7-13 aged. Main purpose way educated children about child protection from violence and harassment. The activities include drawing, coloring, playing group games, teaching children how to use the computer as well as to choose their favorite games and play them online. The achievement of the project was to strengthen their personality and to develop their talents that will enhance their self-confidence and how to build a strong friendship between each other’s.

First Aid Workshop :
The workshop was design and delivered to reassure the children and equip them with tools to assess emergency situations and to provide immediate first aid when accidents occur. Prompt and appropriate First Aid save lives. We believe that it is vitally important children learn about basic skills. Fist Aid will be taught in a interactive and participate way.

EDUCATIONS AND LINGUISTIC :

French classes :
HSA continues providing French classes for the local students. Class is taught by the volunteers from France “Olivier and Solène”. There is a different level for beginners and it includes speaking, writing and listening The second level is for students who were already studying French. Hence the focus is on improving their conversation skills.

English classes :
HSA is providing Englis classes for students two days in the week at 2:30 p.m. There are two levels of English. Beginners group has 12 members and conversation class has 13 members. Beginners class mostly focuses on practing grammars rules, speaking and listening. Advanced lessons mostly focus on practicing speaking and listening and team work. Topic is always discussed and agreed by the students for the following lesson. Both lessons are starting with energizer. We believe that it brings students closer to each other’s.

Arabic Language :
HSA continues providing Arabic lessons for EU Aid, Civic Servic and EVS volunteers. We have devided them in different levels. First level : obtain basic skills as a reading and writing. Second level : conversation (daily life, hobby...). The third level mostly focuses on grammar rules (present, past, future) and developing vocabulary.

Training of the trainers :
We believe in the power of exchange skills, that’s why we involve our international volunteers to be part of the training of locals staff. One of the activities was the drop box training. We are always looking to expand our knowledge and skills and make the organization more efficient. That is why we welcome capacity building trainings from internationals volunteers who can share relevant skills that will make HSA more sustainable and capable of dealing with the needs of the vulnerable children in the most efficient way.

English lessons for children :
One of the educational activities offered by HSA in cooperation with “Rita forum” is English lessons. Target group are children aged 8-13. Classes are taught by EVS volunteer “Olivier” in collaboration with locals volunteers of HSA, two days at week, at 3p.m.

Street libraries :
Street libraries are open cultural spaces which support the children to discover the pleasure of reading, learning and arts. Street libraries are based in different places in Nablus such as central square, parks, stairwells or on the side of a mountain. These activities reach children and families.

BAFA training :
The BAFA training focused on the training of volunteers on how to be a good and proactive leader. The main objective of the project is to educate and train local volunteers about human rights and development. The volunteers developed their skills and knowledge trough participatory and dynamic workshops delivered by HSA staff, EU-Aid volunteers, EVS volunteers and Civic Servic volunteers. The training lasts for 5 days including different courses such as a group games, energizers, psycho-drama and handcraft. In the end all the participations received an official BAFA certificate.

Back to school project :
HSA distributed school bag for children. The bag included some material such as pencils and sketchbooks. The reason of the project is support children with theirs education with material support, because not every family can effort it.

Cultural, sport and arts

Oktoberkoret Danish Band :
One of our cultural activities we organized was the concert festival in cooperation with “Danish band Oktoberkoret” consisting of 25 person with Taramin band oh HSA, and participation of the Palestine artist “Murad Sweit”. The group was performing in different places as an Al-Quds open university, Child Cultural center for elder people also in Qalgila city, refugee camp Askar. The goal of the concert was rich the intercultural exchange between European and Arabic music.

Festiclown :
Festiclown Palestine a yearly Festival organized by HSA and our partners Pallasos en Rebeldia and Rivas muncipality-Spain. The partenership started in 2011 implemented by clowns in cooperation with many clowns and circus teams from around the world. We hosted this year 35 clowns and activists from around the world in solidarity with Palestinian issue. There were different performances in several areas in the West Bank. Activities started in Askar refugee camp and Jenin camo and where spread to govemment schools. Six govemment schools were targeted in Nablus in cooperation with the Directorate of Education and reached som villages such as Bazaria and in the Jordan Valley. In total they offered 12 ceremonies, a street show in the old city of Nablus in cooperation with entitled “Therapy trough laughter”. During the workshop for children and volunteers, they used recycling materials to build musical instruments, did art activities, group games and cooked Spanish recipes. All of these activities were implemented within few days only.

Workshop for children “learning Dabkeh dance”
HSA provides Dabkeh lessons for children, held at the associations twice a week. This training aims to teach the children how to create an artistic work by dancing on various songs also it motivates the children and encouraging them to develop their skills.

Project Capoeira :
In August we had two session of Capoeira Workshop attended 25 children. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines element of dance, acrobatics and music. It was developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil at the beginning of the 16th century. Part of the Workshop was music part, get involved in the knowledge about History, played percussion instruments, practiced defensive, attacking and discussing moves and go to play with a Capoeira and between each other.

Easton Club football team :
Easton cowboys and cowgirls Sport and Social Culb, from England came to have a football match with four of local team in order to express their support fro the Palestine.

International exchange

EVS :
The European Voluntary Service (EVS) gives young people the opportunity to express their personal commitment through full-time voluntary work a foreign country within or outside the EU. The EVS aims to develop solidarity, mutual understanding and tolerance among young people, while contributing to strengthening social cohesion and promoting active citizenship.

EU-Aid volunteers :
The EU-Aid volunteers is an initiative of the European Union. It brings together volunteers and organizations from different countries, providing practical support to huminatirian aid projects and contributing to strengthening the local capicity and resilience of disater-affected communities. Participants in the EU Aid volunteers initiative must be over 18 years of age and be a citizen of an EU Member State or a long-term resident in the EU.

Youth Exchange :
It has begun in Febuary 2011 while our Dabkeh and music team had visited Nanterre and other places in France as a result of partenership HSA have received 16 members of youth represantative of Nanterre municipality. We participated in several youth exchange since 2011 in collaboration between HSA and Europe. For example HSA just send 2 volunteers to Nantes France in collaboration with cemea.asso.fr. There the will learn French and will receive the official BAFA training to become professional Youth Leader.

Alternative way of visiting Palestine-(delegation)

Italian delegation :
HSA has welcomed an Italian delegation this month with 50 people. We introduced them ro rhe association through some short videos. Then, topics about the association were discussed with them such as the activities that are being provided to the different groups of the society. We introduced them to the children and show them their talents such as Dabkeh.

French delegation :
HSA has welcomed a French delegation with 5 people from “Amis d’Abu Dis” assocation in Rezé (Nantes) those people came discover and face local culture and living condition people of living under the occupation. We introduced them to association through visit of Nablus. Then the topic about the association were discussed with them such as the activities that are being provided to the different groups of the society.
